On March 5th I ventured on a snowboarding trip to Utah and had the opportunity to meet and greet with the spouse of one of my Hospitalist providers who resides and works locum tenens in North Carolina. It all came about when I tapped into Dr. Litwak’s winter sporting advice. He is an avid skier and had mentioned in several of our conversations that he travels to Park City where he skis with his family and friends. I asked him advice about where to snowboard out west. In response he suggested Park City, UT--and, to my surprise, even offered up his condo for the time I was there.
Plans were made for myself and co-traveler to bunk there until we ran into a glitch. Dr. Litwak realized he already booked the condo for his wife & friends during the same weekend I planned on traveling. He offered to have his wife change her plans and was overly apologetic that this had happened. Although generous of Dr. Liwak, I couldn’t accept that so I reserved other accommodations and kept the dates as planned. Since I was going to be in Park City at the same time as his wife, Dr. Litwak suggested we get together.
I had the opportunity to meet his wife Kathy while in Park City and we had a blast to say the least! It was delightful to hear more about his family and life. I even learned how Dr. Litwak and Kathy met for the first time. I have never met Dr. Litwak in person but I feel as though I know him more than just as his locum tenens recruiter. There is some irony knowing someone well and never actually meeting them face to face.
